Tunnel tent Outwell Sky 5 — 5-person, Blue, UPF 30+, fiberglass poles, polyethylene groundsheet, polyester interior, 15.1 kg
The Outwell Sky 5 is a blue tunnel-style tent designed for family camping, offering space for up to five people across two darkened bedrooms and an additional living area. Built with polyester interior fabric, a polyethylene ground cloth and fiberglass poles, it provides practical features for comfort including adjustable rear ventilation, a low vent beneath the window and a J-door backed with mesh for airflow and insect protection. The tent has UPF 30+ protection and a packed weight and dimensions suitable for car camping transport.
The tunnel shape maximises usable interior space and creates a separate sleeping area and living area for comfortable family use. Darkened bedrooms reduce morning light for better rest, while adjustable vents and the mesh-backed J-door allow controlled airflow without compromising insect protection. Construction materials such as polyester for the inner fabric and polyethylene for the ground cloth offer durability and easy maintenance for regular camping use.
This tunnel tent is relatively heavy compared with ultralight backpacking tents (pack weight 15.1 kg) and is best suited to car-based camping rather than long-distance hiking. It is designed for general recreational camping and may not be suitable for extreme weather conditions or mountaineering where specialised high-wind, high-snow shelters are required.
Choose a level, clear pitch and lay out the polyethylene ground cloth to protect the tent floor. Assemble the fiberglass poles and insert them through the tunnel sleeves or connect to the tent as indicated in the product instructions to form the tunnel structure. Stake out the tent and secure guy lines for stability. Use the adjustable rear ventilation and the low vent beneath the window to regulate airflow, and open the mesh-backed J-door for additional ventilation while keeping insects out. Pack and store the tent dry to prolong fabric and ground cloth life.
Pitch the tent on a level site, angle the guy lines away from the tent for better wind stability and use the adjustable vents to reduce condensation overnight. Store the tent dry and clean to maintain UPF performance and fabric life.
