HDD enclosure OWC Mercury Elite Pro Quad
The OWC Mercury Elite Pro Quad is a four-bay HDD enclosure that supports both 2.5" and 3.5" drives and connects via USB-C for high-speed data transfer. It accepts Serial ATA III drives and can be configured in multiple RAID modes for performance, capacity, or redundancy. The enclosure has a silver aluminum chassis, front-facing status LEDs, a front-panel access lock and a rear Kensington-compatible lock slot, and is designed for quiet, cool operation.
The unit provides USB 3.1 Gen 2 (USB 3.2 Gen 2) connectivity with up to 10 Gb/s bandwidth and includes both a USB-C to USB-C cable and a USB-C to USB-A cable for backward compatibility. Four universal drive bays allow flexible use of 2.5" or 3.5" SATA drives and support up to large multi-drive capacities. Advanced RAID options are available through OWC's SoftRAID engine or standard Windows-supported RAID modes, enabling high throughput, increased storage capacity, or data redundancy. The aluminum enclosure, quiet fan, and vibration-absorbing feet minimize noise and heat, while front LEDs and physical locks offer basic drive monitoring and security.
Install up to four compatible 2.5" or 3.5" SATA drives into the drive bays following the enclosure's installation instructions, secure the front panel, and connect the enclosure to a computer using the included USB-C cable. If your computer only has legacy USB-A ports, use the included USB-C to USB-A cable. Configure the desired RAID level using the preinstalled SoftRAID software (or your operating system's RAID tools if using the RAID-ready model) and format the array according to your operating system before use.
For reliable long-term operation, place the enclosure on a stable, vibration-free surface with adequate ventilation. Use RAID configurations that match your priorities: RAID 0 for maximum performance, RAID 5 or RAID 1+0 for redundancy, and JBOD or single-disk arrays for maximum capacity. Keep firmware and RAID software updated and perform regular backups of critical data.
