PLANET IPM-8222 IP-based 8-port Switched Power Manager Power Distribution Unit 1U Black

The PLANET IPM-8222 is an advanced IP-based 8-port switched power manager power distribution unit designed specifically for professional server rooms and data centers. Built into a durable metal housing with a 1U rack-mount size design, this managed and metered PDU helps IT administrators optimize energy usage, monitor power metrics in real time, and remotely control connected network equipment to ensure maximum operational reliability.

Advantages

This managed power distribution unit provides comprehensive remote power management capabilities via TCP/IP and a built-in Ethernet port, allowing administrators to oversee connected devices from anywhere using multiple web browsers. It features an integrated LED display panel that visually presents operating status, voltage, current, and energy consumption. Each of the eight power outlets can be controlled individually, supporting custom power-on sequences, delay times, and threshold warnings with automatic power-off functions to prevent overloads. Enhanced security features such as IP filtering, dynamic password verification, and multi-level user access ensure safe operational control.

Suitable for

• Server rooms and data centers requiring remote power management
• Network equipment power distribution and energy monitoring
• Automated power cycling and scheduled device reboots
• IT infrastructure protection against electrical overloads

When it may not be suitable

This unit is designed primarily for standard 1U rack-mount data center environments and may not be suitable for standalone desktop use or residential installations. Additionally, locations without existing IP network infrastructure for remote management or environments requiring higher than 3800W total load capacity will need alternative power solutions.

Key specifications

• Managed, switched, and metered PDU type
• 1U rack-mount metal housing
• 8 independent power outlets
• Maximum load capacity of 3800W
• Maximum inlet current of 16A, with 10A per individual outlet
• Frequency range of 50 to 60 Hz
• Built-in 10/100Mbps Ethernet port for remote access
• Integrated LED display panel for current, voltage, energy, and network information
• Built-in temperature monitoring for environmental awareness
• Circuit breaker for overload protection

How to use

Mount the unit securely into a standard 1U rack space within your server room or data center. Connect the main power inlet to a suitable power source and plug your network devices into the individual IEC outlets. Connect an Ethernet cable to the built-in network port to access the web-based management interface. Configure your network settings, user permissions, outlet names, and power schedules through the interface. You can then monitor real-time power metrics, view environmental temperature data, and control individual outlets remotely as required for your operational workflow.

What to consider before purchase

• Verify that your rack environment has available 1U space and proper ventilation
• Check that your total power load requirements do not exceed 3800W per PDU
• Ensure network infrastructure is available for remote IP access and management
• Confirm compatibility with your existing plug types and power distribution layout

For optimal performance and safety, always ensure that the total connected load remains within the specified 3800W limit, regularly review activity logs for unusual power fluctuations, and keep the device firmware updated through the secure network interface.
