Plustek OpticFilm 8200i Ai is a dedicated film and slide scanner offering an optical scanning resolution of 7200 x 7200 DPI and a maximum scan area of 36.8 x 25.4 mm. The device uses a CCD sensor, a 48-bit input color depth and an infrared channel to assist in dust and scratch detection. Bundled with SilverFast 8 professional scanning software and an IT8 calibration slide, the scanner is designed to deliver accurate color reproduction, extended dynamic range and high-detail capture for negatives and slides.

Advantages

The scanner’s high optical resolution and a precise optical system reproduce fine detail and tonal gradations, particularly in shadow areas. The built-in infrared channel supports automatic dust and scratch detection to reduce manual retouching. SilverFast software integration provides features such as Multi-Exposure® for extended dynamic range, iSRD® dust and scratch removal, and Auto IT8 Calibration® for fast color calibration. How to use

Place a clean film strip or slide in the holder and insert it into the scanner according to the user manual. Start the SilverFast 8 software on your computer, choose appropriate scan settings (resolution, color depth and Multi-Exposure® if extended dynamic range is needed) and perform an IT8 color calibration with the provided calibration slide for accurate color reproduction. Enable the infrared-based dust and scratch removal (iSRD®) if originals contain particulate contamination. Use the preview function to frame and adjust the area to be scanned, then execute the final scan and save files in the desired format for further editing or archiving.

Usage recommendations

For best results, clean slides and film gently before scanning, perform an IT8 calibration periodically to maintain color accuracy and use Multi-Exposure® when scanning high-contrast originals to capture maximum tonal information. Store scanned files in a lossless format for archival copies and keep a separate master file for preservation.
