PolyLite™ CosPLA is a special PLA formula developed for cosplay props. It improves sandability, durability and paintability compared to regular PLA. The product is available in two variants: Version A, which further improves ease of sanding and painting, and Version B, which further increases toughness and impact resistance. Both variants remain easier to print than alternative high-heat materials and keep typical PLA temperature resistance (~60°C).

Version A prioritizes enhanced sandability and paintability, making finishing faster and requiring less primer. Version B prioritizes increased toughness for parts that need higher mechanical strength while still being simpler to print than many engineering plastics.

How to use

Print PolyLite™ CosPLA with standard PLA settings: nozzle temperature 190–220°C, bed temperature 30–60°C, recommended print speed 30–70 mm/s. Use part cooling fan ON. For direct-drive extruders use retraction ~1 mm at 30 mm/s; for Bowden/indirect drive use retraction ~3 mm at 60 mm/s. If the filament has absorbed moisture, dry at 55°C for 6 hours before printing. Apply usual post-processing: sand progressively from coarse to fine grit and then paint. Version A will reduce sanding time and may require less primer; Version B will give stronger final parts.

Usage recommendations

For cosplay pieces requiring higher heat resistance, consider Polymaker PolyLite™ ABS or PolyLite™ ASA. Both alternatives offer improved thermal stability (and ASA adds weather resistance) but may require different printing settings and more experience to print successfully.
