PolyLite™ LW-PLA is a pre-foamed polylactic acid (PLA) filament formulated to produce lightweight prints while using the same basic printing settings as regular PLA. The material is already foamed during manufacturing (passive foaming), so it does not expand in the nozzle with temperature changes and prints reliably at comparatively low extrusion temperatures. Available in 1.75 mm diameter and 800 g spool weight, this green PLA balances ease of printing and structural rigidity for applications where reduced part weight is beneficial.

Advantages

Because PolyLite™ LW-PLA is pre-foamed, you can print with settings close to standard PLA and still achieve about half the weight compared to solid PLA parts. Printing at lower temperatures reduces common high-temperature defects (stringing, blobs) and improves surface quality. The filament offers good rigidity for lightweight functional parts and is simple to handle for hobbyists and professional users alike.

How to use

Load the 1.75 mm PolyLite™ LW-PLA filament into your printer and use standard PLA settings with a slightly increased retraction. Recommended extrusion temperature range is 190°C–210°C and bed temperature 30°C–50°C. For direct-drive extruders start with a 3 mm retraction distance at 40 mm/s; for Bowden/indirect drive systems use about 6 mm retraction at 60 mm/s. Print speeds between 25 mm/s and 60 mm/s are suitable; enable cooling fan for improved surface quality.

Usage recommendations

If filament has absorbed moisture, dry at 55°C for 6 hours before printing. For RC plane parts, test structural features with small samples to confirm required rigidity and weight savings before final production.
