Drill bit Proline 77515 — metal HSS Ø15 mm, length 200 mm, 1 pc
Proline 77515 is a single HSS twist drill bit for metal with a 15 mm diameter and a 200 mm overall length. Made from high-quality refined high-speed steel (HSS) and fully ground for dimensional accuracy and straightness, this long drill is intended for drilling steel, non-ferrous metals and plastics. The bit features a 135° point angle with chamfering adjustment to improve centring and reduce walking when starting holes in sheet and solid materials. Supplied as one piece in a protective plastic tube, it is suitable for workshop, construction and maintenance environments where medium-sized metal holes are required.
The fully ground flute and precise geometry deliver accurate, straight holes and consistent cutting performance. The HSS material provides good wear resistance and heat tolerance for intermittent drilling in metal, while the 135° point and chamfering adjustment help reduce burr formation and improve hole entry. Its 200 mm overall length allows deeper drilling or use with drill bushes and fixtures without compromising rigidity. Packaged in a protective plastic tube, the single-piece supply reduces handling damage and keeps the cutting edge protected until use.
Secure the workpiece and, if required, use a centre punch to mark the hole position to prevent walking. Fit the 15 mm HSS drill bit into an appropriate chuck and tighten securely. Use recommended cutting speeds and moderate feed for metal drilling; reduce speed and apply light feed for plastics to prevent melting. Where deeper, accurate holes are needed, support the workpiece with drill bushes or guides and clear chips frequently to maintain cutting efficiency. After use, clean the flutes of chips and store the drill in its protective tube to preserve the cutting edge.
For best results when drilling steel, use cutting fluid or coolant and moderate spindle speeds to extend tool life and improve surface finish. When drilling non-ferrous metals and plastics, reduce rotational speed and avoid excessive feed to prevent smearing or melting. Inspect the drill for wear or chipping before precision work and replace when cutting performance deteriorates.
