Drill bit Proline 77685, metal, Ø 8.5 mm, length 305 mm, 1 pc
Single Proline 77685 metal drill bit with a diameter of 8.5 mm and overall length 305 mm. Manufactured from refined high-speed steel (HSS), this extra-long, fully ground straight shank bit is designed for drilling steel, non-ferrous metals and plastics. The 135° point angle with chamfering adjustment provides fast penetration and reduced walking at the start, while full grinding ensures accurate, rectilinear holes suitable for use with drill bushes, handheld drills and drill presses.
The Proline 77685 drill bit features a 135° point angle with chamfering adjustment to speed up drilling and simplify marking out. Fully ground flutes deliver high axial accuracy and straight holes, minimizing rework. Made of refined HSS for wear resistance and consistent cutting performance. Its extra-long length increases reach for deeper holes and awkward workpieces. Supplied as a single piece for flexible use or replacement in toolkits.
Secure the Proline 77685 drill bit in the chuck of a handheld drill or drill press, ensuring the straight shank is seated and the chuck is tightened. Select a suitable cutting speed for the material being drilled—lower speeds for harder steels, higher speeds for softer non-ferrous metals and plastics. Use cutting fluid when drilling steel to reduce heat and extend tool life. Start drilling with light pressure to take advantage of the 135° point angle and chamfering adjustment for accurate positioning, then increase feed steadily. Clear chips regularly from deeper holes to avoid clogging.
For best results when drilling steel, use appropriate cutting fluid and moderate speed; for aluminium and plastics, use higher speeds and minimal coolant. When precision is required, employ drill bushes or a drill press and inspect hole straightness during drilling.
