The QNAP NAS TS-264 8GB with 2×4TB Seagate IronWolf SATA drives (8TB total) is a compact 2-bay network-attached storage solution intended for home and small-office environments. It comes with 8 GB of RAM and two preinstalled 4 TB Seagate IronWolf HDDs, providing integrated local storage for centralized file sharing, automated backups, media streaming and basic virtualization. The device runs QNAP’s firmware for easy management, supports RAID configurations to protect data, and enables remote access to stored content from multiple devices.
The bundle combines a dual-bay NAS appliance with ready-to-use drives, reducing setup time and compatibility concerns. With 8 GB RAM, the TS-264 supports smoother multitasking for services such as file serving, backup tasks and lightweight virtual machines or containers. The included NAS-optimized 4 TB drives offer sustained performance and reliability for continuous operation. Built-in RAID options and QNAP management tools simplify data protection, access control and firmware updates.
Install the TS-264 on a stable surface and connect it to your network via Ethernet. Power on the unit and access the QNAP web administration portal from a computer on the same LAN to complete initial configuration: create storage pools, choose a RAID level, set up user accounts and enable required services such as file sharing (SMB/AFP/NFS), backup tasks and remote access. Use the QNAP mobile and desktop utilities or standard network file sharing protocols to map network drives and synchronize or stream content to client devices.
For data protection, configure RAID and enable scheduled backups and snapshot tasks. Place the NAS in a ventilated area with stable power; consider using an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) to reduce the risk of data corruption during outages. Regularly check drive health using the system’s S.M.A.R.T. tools and apply firmware updates through QNAP’s update utility to maintain security and performance.
