NAS QNAP TS-h2490FU Rack 2U EPYC 7232P 64 GB DDR4
The QNAP TS-h2490FU Rack 2U with EPYC 7232P and 64 GB DDR4 is a 2U rackmount NVMe all-flash NAS built for enterprise environments that require very high IOPS, low latency, and advanced data integrity. Based on ZFS-powered QuTS hero, this 24-bay U.2 NVMe system supports inline deduplication, compression, and multi-level caching to optimize SSD endurance and performance. Powered by a 2nd Gen AMD EPYC processor and 64 GB of DDR4 ECC memory, the unit provides the computing and memory bandwidth needed for virtualization, data-center workloads, and high-resolution media production while offering flexible expansion via multiple PCIe Gen4 slots and high-speed 25GbE network connectivity.
The TS-h2490FU delivers ultra-low latency and high random I/O performance with a 24-drive U.2 NVMe layout and dedicated PCIe bandwidth per SSD, making it suitable for IOPS-demanding applications. QuTS hero’s ZFS foundation provides strong data integrity features including checksums, self-healing, WORM support, and multiple RAID Z options. Inline data reduction (deduplication, compression, compaction), TRIM, write coalescing, and QSAL extend SSD lifespan and improve cost-efficiency for all-flash deployments. Built-in high-speed networking and removable motherboard design simplify maintenance and integration into dense rack environments.
Install the TS-h2490FU into a standard 19-inch rack using the rack ears and mounting procedure recommended by your rack vendor. Populate the U.2 NVMe bays with compatible SSDs or use QNAP QDA adapters for M.2 SSDs if required. Connect management and data networks via the SFP28 ports or additional NICs installed in PCIe slots. Configure storage pools, RAID Z layouts, inline data reduction, and caching policies in QuTS hero Storage & Snapshots Manager. Create LUNs or shared folders for host access, and enable snapshot schedules, SnapSync replication, and backup tasks according to your recovery point objectives.
For optimal performance and endurance, use enterprise-grade U.2 NVMe SSDs with sufficient over-provisioning, enable TRIM and pool over-provisioning in QuTS hero, and configure multi-level caching (L1 ARC and L2 ARC) appropriate to workload patterns. When deploying virtualization or VDI, consider SR-IOV-capable SmartNICs to reduce hypervisor overhead. Implement routine snapshot and SnapSync replication schedules and monitor SSD health with QSAL to prevent simultaneous drive degradation.
