Powered by an Intel® Xeon® W-1250 processor (6 cores/12 threads, base 3.3 GHz, boost up to 4.7 GHz) and shipping with 32 GB DDR4 ECC memory (expandable up to 128 GB), the TVS-h1688X runs the ZFS-based QuTS hero operating system to deliver inline block-level deduplication and compression, near-limitless snapshots, real‑time SnapSync replication, and multi-level caching for reliable, high-throughput storage services. The NAS supports up to 16 drives (0 drives preinstalled) with dedicated 2.5" SSD bays and two M.2 NVMe Gen3 x4 slots for SSD caching, plus a preinstalled dual-port 10GBASE-T card and optional Thunderbolt™ 3 expansion for high-speed media workflows.

Install the NAS in a suitable, well‑ventilated location and populate it with the desired combination of HDDs and SSDs according to your capacity and performance needs. For collaborative 4K workflows, install QXP‑T32P Thunderbolt™ 3 PCIe expansion cards into the available PCIe Gen3 x4 slots (cards sold separately) to provide up to four Thunderbolt™ 3 ports. Configure storage pools and RAID levels in QuTS hero, enable inline deduplication/compression as needed, and set up SSD caching using the 2.5" bays or M.2 NVMe slots to optimize IOPS. Connect the NAS to your network using the 10GbE ports and configure Port Trunking or failover for bandwidth and redundancy. Use Virtualization Station or Container Station for virtual machines/containers, and enable HBS, SnapSync and snapshot schedules to implement backup and disaster recovery workflows.

Usage recommendations

For maximum performance in multi‑user 4K editing and virtual machine scenarios, use a mixed configuration of high-capacity HDDs in the 3.5" bays and SLC/MLC SSDs in dedicated 2.5" bays or M.2 NVMe slots for caching.
