The ICY BOX IB-170SK-B is a 5.25" mobile rack designed to hold a single 3.5" SATA hard disk drive. It fits into a standard 5.25" bay and supports SATA I/II/III transfer rates up to 6 Gbit/s via a high-quality NSS (no-scratch) SATA connector. The tray accepts drives up to 1" (25.4 mm) in height and comes in a black aluminum housing with included AC and SATA cables for straightforward installation.

Advantages

The enclosure is made from special aluminum that improves heat dissipation compared with typical steel designs. An upgraded 40 mm cooling fan (previously 30 mm) provides up to 70% better cooling while operating more quietly. The device supports hot-swap and plug & play for quick drive exchange, and an integrated mechanical lock helps prevent unauthorized removal. LED indicators show power and drive access status.

How to use

Install the ICY BOX IB-170SK-B into an empty 5.25" bay of your desktop PC, connect the supplied SATA and AC cables to the motherboard and power supply, and slide in a compatible 3.5" SATA HDD (max height 1"). The tray supports hot-swap, so drives can be inserted or removed while the system is running if your motherboard and operating system also support hot-plugging. Use the front lock to secure the drive and observe the front LEDs to monitor power and disk activity.

Usage recommendations
