The ICY BOX IB-2913MCL-C31 is an external enclosure and standalone cloning station for 2.5"/3.5" SATA HDD/SSD and M.2 (SATA and PCIe NVMe) SSDs. It supports tool-free insertion of up to three drives and offers flexible connectivity via the supplied combination cable with USB Type-C® and USB Type-A connectors. The enclosure uses a USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface with a maximum transfer rate of 10 Gbit/s and operates from a 12 V output.
The device enables one-button cloning between various drive types — for example, SATA HDD/SSD to M.2 PCIe NVMe, M.2 SATA to M.2 PCIe NVMe, or M.2 PCIe NVMe to M.2 PCIe NVMe — without requiring a PC connection. Its open, tool-free design allows quick installation and swap of 2.5", 3.5" and M.2 drives. Dual connector support (USB-C and USB-A via the included cable) ensures compatibility with a wide range of host devices.
Install drives into the open tool-free slots: insert 2.5"/3.5" SATA drives or M.2 modules into their respective slots and ensure they are seated correctly. Connect the enclosure to a host using the supplied combination cable (USB-C or USB-A). For standalone cloning, place source and target drives in the appropriate bays and initiate cloning with the dedicated button; no PC connection is required. When connecting to a computer, the enclosure functions as an external HDD/SSD enclosure for file transfer at USB 3.2 Gen 2 speeds.
Use the included USB combination cable suited to your host port, ensure stable power supply to the 12 V adapter if provided, and verify source/target placement before starting one-button cloning to avoid accidental overwrites. For optimal performance with NVMe drives, connect via USB Type-C on a USB 3.2 Gen 2 port.
