The ICY DOCK FlexiDOCK MB522SP-B is a 2-bay, tray-less docking module designed to install into an external 3.5" drive bay (including legacy floppy bays) and provide hot-swappable slots for 2.5" SSDs or HDDs (5.0–9.5 mm). It supports full SATA 6 Gb/s speed, SATA hot-swap functionality and a flush, enclosed mounting that keeps drives inserted fully inside the chassis for protection and a tidy system appearance. The unit features a metal chassis with ventilation, individual eject buttons with integrated activity LEDs and is compatible with SAS/SATA 2.5" drives.

How to use

Mount the FlexiDOCK MB522SP-B into a free external 3.5" drive bay and connect the internal SATA power and data cables to the host SATA ports. Insert a bare 2.5" HDD or SSD (5–9.5 mm) directly into either bay until the eject button pops out and the activity LED illuminates. To remove a drive, press the corresponding eject button and the smart ejection mechanism will smoothly push the drive out for retrieval. If using a 5.25" bay, install an optional MB343SP adapter first to convert the bay to 3.5".

Usage recommendations

Use the FlexiDOCK for routine hot-swap tasks such as incremental backups, cloning and media transfer. Ensure SATA cables are firmly connected and avoid inserting drives while heavy disk activity is in progress. For maximum airflow, allow clearance around the ventilation slots and use drives within the supported 5.0–9.5 mm height range.
