Carrier panel Icy Dock MB994SP-4SB-1
The Icy Dock ToughArmor MB994SP-4SB-1 is a full-metal quad-bay 2.5" SATA mobile rack designed to fit a single external 5.25" bay. It supports hot-swap 2.5" HDDs and SSDs at SATA 6Gbps, includes two 40mm cooling fans with a fan power switch, and uses a single 4-pin power connector. The unit implements Active Power Technology so power is applied only when drives are installed, and each drive tray features a front LED for drive status. Constructed from rugged metal with front and rear ventilation, the enclosure is suitable for environments that require durable, flame-resistant materials.
The enclosure’s all-metal construction provides durable protection and improved heat dissipation. Dual 40mm fans with an on/off switch let you disable cooling when using SSDs and enable it for mechanical drives, helping balance noise and thermal management. EZ Slide Mini Trays allow tool-free drive insertion and removal and accept 2.5" drives of multiple thicknesses. Active Power Technology reduces unnecessary power draw by powering the backplane only when drives are present.
Install the MB994SP-4SB-1 into an available external 5.25" bay and connect the single 4-pin power cable and SATA cables from your host system to each drive channel as required. Insert 2.5" drives into the EZ Slide Mini Trays, slide the trays into the cage until they lock, and monitor drive status via the front LEDs. Use the fan power switch to enable cooling for mechanical drives or disable fans when using SSDs to reduce noise. Drives can be hot-swapped while the system supports hot-swap operation; follow your operating system and RAID controller guidelines when removing or inserting drives.
Use the fan-on setting for prolonged heavy disk activity or when installing mechanical hard drives; switch fans off for SSD-only configurations to reduce noise and energy use. Ensure proper SATA and power connections and observe ESD precautions when handling drives and trays.
