Power distribution unit Rittal 7979.316 Switched PDU 28 AC outlets (24×C13, 4×C19) 1-phase 230V 32A
The Rittal 7979.316 Switched PDU is a 0U rack-mounted power distribution unit designed for single-phase 230 V installations that require high-density outlet capacity and remote management. It provides 28 AC outlets (24×C13 and 4×C19) and supports a maximum current of 32 A and a power rating up to 7,400 W. The unit includes a 3 m power cable, onboard measurement for current and voltage, and multiple network protocols (HTTP/HTTPS, SNMP, Modbus/TCP, OPC-UA) for monitoring and control. USB-upgradeable firmware and built-in scheduling and programmable switching functions enable automated behaviour after power events and during operations.
The switched design offers individual outlet control and centralised monitoring, allowing administrators to manage loads, reset equipment remotely and implement timed or logic-based switching sequences. Measurement accuracy to relevant standards and configurable alarm thresholds provide reliable energy and load data for capacity planning. Integrated features such as an internal real-time clock with battery buffering, an electromagnetic buzzer for audible alerts, and phase/fuse colour coding simplify setup and ongoing operation in professional rack environments.
This PDU is intended for single-phase 230 V systems and is rated to 32 A; it is not suitable for three-phase installations or applications that require higher input currents. It also assumes compatible rack mounting (0U vertical space) and may not fit non-standard or proprietary cabinet designs without the appropriate mounting accessories.
Install the PDU vertically in the rack 0U space following the rack manufacturer's instructions; where supported, use the tool-free divider kit for secure mounting. Connect the supplied 3 m mains cable to a suitable 230 V, 32 A supply and verify input connections. Configure network settings and monitoring protocol on the PDU web interface or via SNMP/Modbus/TCP/OPC-UA to integrate with your management systems. Use the web UI or remote commands to set programmable switching rules, startup behaviour after power restoration, and alarm thresholds. Monitor current, voltage and energy consumption to manage loads and perform remote outlet switching as required.
Use the PDU's monitoring and programmable switching to balance loads across outlets, set warning and alarm thresholds to detect overcurrent conditions early, and schedule automatic startup sequences for orderly power restoration. Keep firmware updated via USB or network upgrade paths and replace the real-time clock battery as recommended to maintain accurate scheduled operations.
