Audio Interface RME MADIface USB 2.0 channels 48 bit
The RME MADIface USB is a professional USB audio interface offering MADI connectivity and 48-bit internal processing. Designed for studio and live environments, it supports multiple operation modes including 64 Channel Mix, 128 Channel Mix, Redundancy (Seamless Redundancy) and a straight routing mode with the option to disable the internal mixer TotalMix. The unit provides robust clocking with RME's SteadyClock, MIDI over MADI for remote control, and compatibility with Windows and macOS. For analysis and diagnostics the interface includes DIGICheck software; for flexible routing and monitoring it integrates the TotalMix FX mixer with a dedicated Control Room section.
The MADIface USB delivers reliable MADI format conversion and reclocking with SteadyClock for reduced jitter and stable operation. Multiple operating modes allow selection between mirrored outputs, independent 128-channel routing, or a disabled TotalMix for direct I/O routing. AutoSelect and Redundancy mode provide real-time failover between MADI inputs, while stand-alone operation is possible using any USB power source. TotalMix offers comprehensive routing, monitoring and submix capabilities, including up to 32 stereo submixes, remote control via Mackie or OSC protocols, and precise hardware Peak and RMS meters on every channel.
Connect the MADIface USB to a computer via USB and to other MADI devices via coaxial or optical cables. Use the Settings dialog to select the active MADI input or enable AutoSelect for seamless redundancy. Choose an operating mode depending on the workflow: disable TotalMix for straight I/O routing and mirrored outputs, select 64 Channel Mix for identical outputs from one input, or 128 Channel Mix to access independent outputs and the second input inside TotalMix. For stand-alone operation power the unit from any USB power source; with a single input the device follows the input clock, with two inputs it enters Double Processing mode and becomes a bidirectional format converter and active repeater.
Use SteadyClock and proper sample-rate configuration when integrating multiple digital devices to minimize jitter. For live-critical setups enable AutoSelect/Redundancy to ensure uninterrupted audio. When using TotalMix aim to keep monitor mixes and recording paths clearly organized with fader groups and mute groups; enable DIGICheck for signal analysis and level verification before tracking or broadcasting.
