Studio microphone RØDE PodMic USB
The RØDE PodMic USB is a versatile dynamic studio microphone designed for podcasting, streaming, gaming, voice‑overs and other speech applications. It combines an XLR output for traditional mixer or audio interface connections with a USB Type‑C digital output for direct plug‑and‑play recording to a computer or mobile device. On the USB side it uses RØDE’s low‑noise Revolution Preamp™ and APHEX® DSP to provide high‑gain, studio‑grade sound and includes a zero‑latency headphone output with level control. The microphone features a neodymium capsule, internal pop filter and internal shockmount, and is built in a durable matte‑black housing.
The PodMic USB offers dual XLR and USB connectivity so it can be used with mixers and audio interfaces or connected directly to a computer or smartphone. Onboard DSP with APHEX® processing and VoxLab™ presets enables quick tonal adjustments as well as detailed control over high‑pass, noise gate, compressor, Aural Exciter™ and Big Bottom™ effects. A headphone output with zero latency and level control allows real‑time monitoring. Its compact, rugged construction and included external pop filter provide practical durability for home, studio and mobile recording.
Connect the PodMic USB via XLR to an audio interface or mixer for traditional studio setups, or plug the USB‑C output into a computer, smartphone or tablet for direct digital recording. Use the headphone output to monitor with zero latency and adjust monitoring level with the onboard control. Select VoxLab™ presets for quick sound shaping or adjust the built‑in DSP parameters — high‑pass filter, noise gate, compressor, Aural Exciter™ and Big Bottom™ — to taste. Position the microphone with the internal shockmount and use the supplied external pop filter to reduce plosives.
For best results, place the microphone at a consistent distance (about 15–25 cm) from the speaker, speak slightly off‑axis to reduce plosives, enable the high‑pass filter to reduce low‑frequency rumble when needed, and monitor levels to avoid clipping. When using mobile devices, verify OTG/USB‑C compatibility and use a suitable cable or adapter.
