The RØDE VideoMicro II is an ultra-compact on-camera microphone that improves the audio quality of cameras and smartphones. It connects via 3.5 mm and does not require batteries, offering a simple plug-and-record workflow. How to use

Attach the VideoMicro II to your camera hotshoe or mount it on a boompole using the HELIX™ isolation mount. Connect the microphone to your camera using the supplied 3.5 mm TRS cable, or to your smartphone using the supplied TRS–TRRS cable. No batteries are required—plug the microphone in and start recording. Position the microphone pointing towards the sound source for best clarity and keep the microphone close enough to the subject to maximise direct sound pickup while minimising background noise.

Usage recommendations

For optimal results, use the foam windshield indoors and the furry windshield when recording outdoors in windy conditions. Ensure the HELIX™ mount is securely fitted and route cables through the mount’s slots to avoid handling noise. When recording with a smartphone, test levels before important takes to confirm proper connection and input sensitivity.
