Windscreen cap Rode Microphones WS14 for PodMic and PodMic USB (pink)
Windscreen cap Rode Microphones WS14 for PodMic and PodMic USB (pink)
The Windscreen cap Rode Microphones WS14 for PodMic and PodMic USB (pink) is a soft foam cover engineered to fit the PodMic and PodMic USB grille shape. It slips on and off easily and is intended to reduce plosive sounds and ambient wind noise that can affect spoken-word recordings. The windscreen is lightweight and designed to maintain natural vocal tone while providing basic protection against breath blasts and light air movement during podcasting, streaming, voiceover work and live commentary.
This foam windscreen provides targeted reduction of plosives and minor wind interference without significantly altering the microphone’s tonal balance. Its form is matched to the PodMic and PodMic USB grille for a secure, low-profile fit that is simple to install and remove. The soft foam construction is quick-drying and easy to clean, and the pink colour offers a visual option for branding or studio identification.
This windscreen is intended for basic reduction of plosives and light air movement; it will not provide the same level of wind protection as a large external windjammer or blimp used in outdoor, high-wind conditions. It is also sized specifically for the PodMic and PodMic USB grille shape, so it will not fit other microphone models reliably.
Align the foam windscreen with the microphone grille and gently stretch it over the head of the PodMic or PodMic USB until it sits flush against the grille. Ensure the windscreen covers the entire grille without gaps for optimal plosive reduction. After use, remove by pulling the windscreen straight off the grille; allow the foam to air-dry if it becomes damp, and wipe with a mild detergent solution if necessary. Do not use solvents or heat to dry.
For best results, use the WS14 windscreen in combination with proper mic technique: position the PodMic slightly off-axis from the mouth and keep a consistent distance to minimise plosives. Replace the foam if it becomes compressed or damaged to maintain performance.
