Microphone Rode Microphones XDM-100
The Rode Microphones XDM-100 is a dynamic microphone designed for studio and live use. It offers a cardioid polar pattern that focuses on the primary sound source while reducing ambient noise, and a frequency response tailored for clear vocal reproduction. The microphone combines robust mechanical construction with a sleek black and red appearance suitable for professional and home setups.
The XDM-100 provides reliable signal capture for speech and singing due to its cardioid pickup pattern and vocal-oriented frequency response. Its durable build resists wear from regular handling and stage use, ensuring stable performance over time. The microphone’s design balances clarity and warmth, enabling natural-sounding vocals while attenuating off-axis noise and feedback.
Place the microphone on a stable stand and position it approximately 5–15 cm from the mouth for vocal work, adjusting distance to control proximity effect and volume. Aim the front (cardioid) side toward the sound source to maximize rejection of background noise. Connect the microphone to a mixer or audio interface using an appropriate XLR cable and set preamp gain to achieve a clean signal without clipping. For live use, monitor sound through a stage monitor or headphones and adjust EQ and gain to suit the venue acoustics.
Use a pop filter or windscreen for close vocal work to reduce plosives and breath noise. When used on stage, position monitors and other instruments off-axis from the microphone’s null points to minimize feedback. Regularly inspect mounting hardware and connectors to maintain reliable performance.
