The VideoMicro is a compact on-camera microphone measuring 80 mm in length and weighing 42 g. How to use

Mount the VideoMicro on your camera’s shoe and secure the Rycote Lyre shock mount to reduce vibrations. Connect the microphone to the camera’s mic input; ensure the camera provides at least 3 V plug-in power. Position the microphone pointing toward the sound source to take advantage of the cardioid pattern and minimise background noise. For outdoor recording, fit the included WS9 furry windshield over the microphone to reduce wind noise. To use with a smartphone, connect the optional SC7 TRS–TRRS cable between the microphone and the phone’s headset/microphone port.

Recommendations

For best results, enable plug-in power on your camera and monitor audio levels with headphones. Use the Rycote Lyre to isolate handling noise, and employ the WS9 windshield when recording outdoors or in windy conditions. If you plan to record to a smartphone, use the RØDE SC7 cable to ensure correct wiring and reliable connections.
