Video Mixer Roland VR-4HD
The Roland VR-4HD is an all-in-one HD AV mixer that combines a digital audio mixer, video switcher, multi-view touch screen and built-in USB 3.0 streaming/recording interface in a compact, portable unit. Designed for single-operator live production, it supports multiple video formats including 1080p/1080i/720p and accepts HDMI sources as well as an analogue/computer input with scaler for older devices. Integrated DSP provides advanced audio features and the unit embeds the final audio mix into HDMI and USB outputs for recording or webcasting.
The VR-4HD offers professional broadcast-style controls and a touch multi-view for fast, accurate operation without relying on mouse/keyboard interfaces. It supports compositing effects such as DSK, picture-in-picture, split and quad layouts and handles both progressive and interlaced signals. Audio capabilities include four XLR mic preamps, stereo RCA and 1/8" inputs, auto-mixing, echo cancellation, delay for lip-sync, and loop-back via USB 3.0 for web conferencing. Built-in USB 3.0 delivers up to full 1080p uncompressed output to Mac/PC and Roland’s VR Video Capture software enables uncompressed or compressed capture.
Connect your video sources to the HDMI inputs and any older analogue or computer source to the scaler input. Plug microphones into the XLR inputs and other line sources into the RCA or 1/8" jack. Use the front-panel controls and built-in multi-view touch screen to switch video, apply DSK/PinP or split layouts and adjust picture placement by dragging the inset window on the touch display. Adjust audio levels with the dedicated faders; enable auto-mix and echo cancelation as needed. To record or stream, connect the VR-4HD to a Mac or PC via USB 3.0 and run Roland’s VR Video Capture or your streaming software; the unit will deliver the embedded audio/video program at the selected resolution.
For reliable operation, use HDMI cables of appropriate length and quality for HD signals, set the scaler input to match the computer or analogue source resolution, and verify lip-sync by enabling delay adjustments if necessary. When webcasting or recording, test the VR Video Capture settings and network/upload bandwidth in advance. Assign volume priority in auto-mix to the moderator when running panels or conferences.
