Microphone Windshield Rycote RYC010326 for Rode NTG5 — 330 mm length, 535 g
Rycote RYC010326 Super-Blimp for Rode NTG5 is a purpose-built microphone windshield measuring 330 mm in length and weighing 535 g. Designed to fit the Rode NTG5 shotgun microphone, this windshield provides effective wind and environmental noise reduction for location recording, ENG and field production. The kit is compatible with the NTG5 form factor and includes a short, lightweight XLR connector and professional-quality cable to integrate with standard shotgun microphone setups. The Windjammer supplied with the Super-Blimp improves protection against gusts and reduces low-frequency wind rumble while maintaining clear directional audio capture.
The Super-Blimp design balances wind protection and compact size to minimise handling and setup constraints on location. At 330 mm length it preserves the NTG5’s natural polar pattern while the Lyre®-style suspension reduces mechanical coupling and handling noise without elastic bands. The included lightweight XLR connector and Mogami-quality cable provide reliable, low-noise signal routing. The Windjammer specifically shaped for this blimp adds an additional layer of wind attenuation for outdoor interviews and film shoots.
Slide the Rode NTG5 into the Super-Blimp body, aligning the microphone capsule with the blimp’s internal bore. Secure the short XLR connector to the microphone base and route the cable through the provided strain-relief channel. Fit the Windjammer over the Super-Blimp for enhanced wind protection when operating outdoors. Use the Lyre®-style suspension to mount the microphone so that handling vibrations are isolated; check that the microphone is centered and that the cable is not under tension to avoid transferring noise.
For best results in moderate to strong winds, combine the Super-Blimp with the Windjammer fitted and position the microphone on a boom or shock-mounted support. Avoid excessive cable tension and confirm the NTG5 remains centered inside the blimp to maintain consistent polar response and audio clarity.
