HDD Seagate 500GB 3.5" SATA III 7200 RPM ST500DM002-RFB
Barracuda hard drives offer reliable 7200 RPM performance across capacities from 250GB to 3TB, combining large 64MB caches, OptiCache™ and SATA 6Gb/s interface to deliver consistent desktop storage performance. Models with 1TB-per-platter technology increase storage density using Seagate AcuTrac™ for precise reading and writing on very narrow tracks, while advanced power modes reduce energy use during idle periods. Barracuda drives are manufactured with environmental considerations and include features to ease migration to modern sector and capacity standards.
High spindle speed and SATA 6Gb/s interface provide improved throughput for desktop applications. Large cache memory and OptiCache™ technology optimize typical read/write patterns. High areal density (1TB per disk) enables greater capacity in standard 3.5" form factors. Advanced power management reduces idle power consumption. Compliance with RoHS and high recyclability support environmental responsibility. SmartAlign™ simplifies transition to 4K sector (Advanced Format) drives, and DiscWizard™ software allows use of drives larger than 2TB on systems without UEFI.
Install the Barracuda drive into a compatible 3.5" desktop or all-in-one PC bay, connect via a SATA cable to a motherboard SATA port, and connect power from the PSU. For systems with UEFI, the drive can be used natively for large volumes. If the system BIOS does not support drives larger than 2TB, install Seagate DiscWizard™ software to enable full use of a 3TB drive. No additional utilities are required to align Advanced Format 4K sectors thanks to SmartAlign™; standard formatting tools can be used after installation.
Use Barracuda drives for desktop builds, gaming PCs, direct-attached external storage (DAS), desktop RAID arrays, or consumer NAS devices. Ensure your system firmware and OS support your target capacity or install DiscWizard™ when working with drives larger than 2TB on older systems.
