On-camera condenser microphone Sennheiser MKE 600 — 40–20000 Hz, 256 mm, mini XLR, black
The Sennheiser MKE 600 is a compact shotgun microphone designed for use with video cameras and camcorders. It provides focused sound capture from the camera direction while suppressing unwanted side and rear noise. The microphone covers a frequency range of 40–20,000 Hz and comes with a foam windshield and shock mount for location recording.
The MKE 600 features pronounced directivity that concentrates on the sound source in front of the camera and maximizes rejection of side noise. A switchable Low Cut filter reduces wind and low-frequency rumble. Power options include phantom powering or battery operation with a dedicated on/off switch and a Low Batt indicator. The microphone’s rugged all-metal housing and effective suppression of structure-borne noise make it suitable for field and studio use.
Mount the MKE 600 on your camera’s hot shoe or on a separate boom/shock mount using the supplied shock mount. Connect the microphone to the camera or recorder using the mini XLR (3-pin) cable. If your camera provides phantom power, enable phantom on the camera and use that power; if not, insert the battery and switch the microphone on. Use the Low Cut filter switch when recording outdoors or where low-frequency noise is present. Aim the microphone toward the sound source and keep side and rear surfaces away from reflective noise sources for best directivity.
For optimal results in windy conditions, fit the supplied foam windshield or use an appropriate larger windjammer. When recording sensitive dialogue, prefer phantom power if available to avoid interruptions due to battery depletion; check the Low Batt indicator before critical takes.
