Aquarium water treatment additive sera Silicate clear 60 g - removes silicates and prevents algae

sera Silicate clear 60 g is an aquarium water treatment additive formulated to reduce dissolved silicate concentrations in freshwater and marine aquaria. The product binds silicates and facilitates their removal from the water column, helping to control silicate-driven diatom growth and improve overall water clarity. It is suitable for both routine maintenance and targeted treatment when silicate levels are elevated in planted tanks, reef systems or ornamental freshwater aquaria.

Advantages

sera Silicate clear acts selectively on dissolved silicates without introducing organic nutrients, making it compatible with routine water care. The formulation helps limit recurrent diatom and silicate-related algae outbreaks by reducing the available silicate pool. As a powdered additive, it is easy to dose in measured amounts for small corrective treatments or periodic maintenance. The product is designed for use in systems where silicate control is required without altering other major water parameters.

Suitable for

• Planted freshwater aquaria experiencing diatom growth
• Marine and reef tanks where silicates compromise water clarity
• Ornamental tanks requiring periodic silicate reduction
• Maintenance routines to prevent recurring silicate-related algae

Key specifications

• Form: powder (60 g pack)
• Target: dissolved silicates in aquarium water
• Intended systems: freshwater and marine aquaria
• Function: binds and removes silicates to improve clarity
• Application frequency: as needed for routine maintenance or corrective treatment

How to use

Follow the dosing instructions provided on the product label for the water volume of your aquarium. Dissolve the recommended amount into a small quantity of aquarium water before distributing evenly across the tank or into the filter intake area. Allow the filtration system to run to help collect and remove bound silicates; perform mechanical filtration or a partial water change if indicated by the product guidance. Avoid overdosing and monitor water parameters and livestock behavior during and after treatment.

Usage recommendations

Use sera Silicate clear as part of an overall maintenance plan that includes regular water changes, proper filtration and monitoring of nutrient inputs. Test silicate levels before and after treatment to confirm effectiveness. For reef systems and sensitive invertebrates, apply treatments conservatively and observe animals closely for any signs of stress.
