Aquarium gravel sera anthracite gravel 1–3 mm 6 L
sera anthracite aquarium gravel, 6 L bag with grain size 1–3 mm, is an inert decorative substrate designed for freshwater aquaria. The dark anthracite color creates a natural-looking base that enhances the contrast of fish and plant colors while providing a stable bottom layer for planting and aquascaping. The fine gravel grain size is suitable for tropical and community tanks where a low-profile substrate is required.
The gravel is chemically inert and does not alter water parameters, making it suitable for sensitive freshwater setups. Its uniform 1–3 mm grain size supports plant anchoring and allows water flow through the substrate while preventing excessive compaction. The anthracite color highlights fish coloration and complements a variety of aquarium styles, from planted tanks to minimalist layouts. Packaged in a 6 L bag, it provides enough coverage for small to medium aquaria or as an accent layer in larger systems.
Rinse the gravel thoroughly with clean water until runoff is clear to remove dust from production and transport. Spread a uniform layer across the aquarium bottom to the desired depth; for planted setups a layer of 2–4 cm is usually sufficient for small-rooting plants, while deeper layers can be used when planting larger species or creating slope profiles. Place plants and décor on top of the gravel and refill the aquarium slowly to avoid disturbing the substrate. Monitor water clarity during initial days and perform gentle siphon cleaning as needed.
For planted aquariums, combine this inert gravel with nutrient-rich root tabs or a dedicated substrate layer beneath the gravel if long-term plant nutrition is required. Avoid using gravel cleaners that strongly agitate the substrate layer in early cycling; instead perform partial water changes and gentle surface cleaning to maintain clarity without disturbing plant roots.
