Current Transformer Shelly 50A Black — split-core CT for 50 A measurement
The Shelly 50A Black split-core current transformer is designed to measure alternating current up to a nominal 50 A. Finished in black, the CT provides a proportional secondary output suitable for integration with energy monitoring devices and data loggers. Its split-core design allows for quick installation around an existing conductor without disconnecting wiring, making it convenient for retrofit and new installations in residential and light commercial electrical systems.
The split-core construction enables tool-free clamping around live conductors for fast, low-disruption installation. The transformer gives a stable proportional output for accurate current sensing when paired with compatible monitoring equipment. Compact dimensions and durable housing provide space-saving mounting and protection against everyday mechanical stress. The black finish blends unobtrusively with electrical panels and wiring runs.
Open the split-core CT and place it around a single live conductor; ensure it fully closes and the core latches securely. Connect the secondary output leads to the input terminals of the monitoring device or meter according to that device's wiring and polarity requirements. Verify that the monitoring equipment is configured for a 50 A primary range or the appropriate transformation ratio to display correct current or power values. After installation, check connections and readings for consistency before leaving the system in continuous operation.
Use the CT only on single conductors (not on multi-core cables) and within its rated primary current. Ensure the secondary is never left open-circuited while the primary is energized. Match the CT output to compatible input impedance and scaling settings of the monitoring device for accurate measurements.
