Bottom Bracket Shimano Deore XT BB-MT800-P for BB92 frames, press-fit, Hollowtech II compatibility
The Shimano Deore XT BB-MT800-P bottom bracket is designed for bikes with a press-fit BB92 shell and is compatible with Hollowtech II cranksets. This unit supplies sealed bearings and press-fit cups to enable smooth pedal rotation and reliable transfer of rider power to the drivetrain. Built for mountain bike applications, it aims to reduce maintenance requirements while maintaining durable bearing performance across varied trail conditions.
The BB-MT800-P provides robust sealed bearings that resist contamination from water, mud and dust, extending service intervals. Its press-fit BB92 design eliminates threaded installation, enabling a clean integration into modern frame shells. Compatibility with Hollowtech II spindle systems ensures straightforward fit with many Shimano cranksets and consistent crank alignment for efficient power transfer.
Prepare the BB92 frame shell by cleaning and inspecting the bearing surfaces to ensure proper seating. Apply a thin layer of frame-safe assembly grease to the outer surfaces of the cups to aid installation and reduce creaking. Press the cups into the BB92 shell using a suitable press tool, ensuring even alignment and full seating. Install a Hollowtech II compatible crankset according to the crank manufacturer’s torque specifications and verify smooth rotation and absence of play before riding.
Check bearing condition and cup seating periodically, especially after exposure to heavy mud or wet conditions. When servicing, follow Shimano guidelines for removal and replacement using appropriate tools to avoid frame or component damage. Replace the bottom bracket if bearings show roughness or excessive play to maintain drivetrain efficiency and rider safety.
