The SilverStone ECU05 is a low-profile PCIe expansion card that adds reversible USB 3.1/3.2 Gen 1 Type-C and multiple USB 3.0 Type-A ports to a desktop system. It uses a PCI-E 2.0 x2 interface to provide up to 10 Gbps throughput for the Type-C port, supports UASP and XHCI, and includes an internal 19‑pin USB 3.0 connector plus an optional low-profile slot cover for compact cases.
ECU05 delivers a Type-C port capable of utilizing PCI-E 2.0 x2 bandwidth (up to 10 Gbps) for improved transfer performance compared with a single USB 3.0 lane. The card provides a total of five added USB ports via two external Type-A connectors, one external Type-C connector, and an internal 19‑pin header. One external Type-A port supports USB Battery Charging (BC) 1.2 for faster device charging. Support for UASP and compliance with XHCI Revision 1.1 simplifies driverless installation on modern operating systems.
Install the ECU05 into an available PCI-E x4/x8/x16 slot (operates at PCI-E 2.0 x2). Connect the internal 19‑pin USB header to the motherboard if you need front-panel USB ports. If installing into a small form factor chassis, fit the supplied low-profile slot cover. After physical installation, the card will be recognized by operating systems that implement XHCI; UASP-capable devices will benefit from improved transfer performance. No additional drivers are typically required on modern Windows versions.
For best transfer stability when using multiple high-speed external drives, connect the fastest device to the Type-C port (PCI-E 2.0 x2) and enable UASP support in the operating system when available. Use the BC 1.2 Type-A port for quick charging of mobile devices while avoiding simultaneous high-throughput transfers on that same port.
