The Silverstone MS09 SSD enclosure accepts a single M.2 storage drive with a Serial ATA III (SATA 3.0) interface and connects to a host via USB 3.2 Gen 2 (USB 3.1 Gen 2) Type-A. Constructed from aluminium in a silver finish, it is designed to house SATA M.2 SSDs using the M.2 connector’s SATA (B key) wiring and exposes an AHCI SATA interface to the operating system.

How to use

Open the enclosure, insert a compatible M.2 SATA (B key) SSD into the M.2 slot and secure it according to the enclosure’s mounting method. Close the enclosure, connect it to a host computer using a USB Type-A to enclosure cable, and allow the operating system to recognise the drive via the AHCI/SATA driver. No special drivers are typically required on modern operating systems that support AHCI.

Usage recommendations

Install only M.2 SSDs that use the SATA interface (B key). PCIe/NVMe M.2 drives using PCI Express lanes (M key) are not supported for optimal performance in this enclosure because it provides SATA/AHCI access.
