Eyepiece Skywatcher SWA-58 6mm 1.25 inch — 6 mm focal length, 1.25" barrel

Skywatcher SWA-58 6mm eyepiece with a 1.25-inch barrel is a compact optical accessory designed to deliver high magnification for visual astronomy. With a 6 mm focal length and compatibility with standard 1.25" focusers, this eyepiece is suited for demanding views of the Moon, planets and tight double stars. The small, lightweight construction makes it convenient to swap eyepieces during observing sessions and to carry in a telescope accessory case.

Advantages

The SWA-58 6mm offers high angular magnification while maintaining a practical eye relief for short observing sessions and for observers using standard eyepiece holders. Its simple, durable build is intended for routine field use and easy handling. Optical design emphasises clear central sharpness useful for planetary detail and splitting close double stars, and the 1.25" barrel ensures broad compatibility with common amateur telescopes.

Suitable for

• High-magnification planetary observation
• Lunar surface detail and terminator studies
• Splitting close double stars
• Detailed views of bright deep-sky objects
• Use with telescopes that accept 1.25" eyepieces

Key specifications

• Focal length: 6 mm
• Barrel diameter: 1.25" (31.7 mm)
• Intended use: visual astronomy eyepiece for high magnification
• Form factor: compact and lightweight
• Compatibility: standard 1.25" focusers and eyepiece holders

How to use

Insert the 1.25" barrel into the telescope focuser or diagonal and secure it with the focuser thumbscrew. Start with a low-power eyepiece to locate and center the target, then switch to the 6 mm eyepiece for detailed high-magnification views. Refocus carefully after changing eyepieces to achieve a sharp image. For planetary observing, allow the telescope to reach thermal equilibrium for improved stability and contrast.

Usage recommendations

Use the 6 mm eyepiece on telescopes with sufficient focal length and aperture to avoid excessive image dimming; for small-aperture instruments, consider using it on bright targets only. When observing at high magnification, ensure steady mounting and accurate collimation of the telescope to get the best detail. Protect the eyepiece from dust and moisture when not in use by storing it in a padded case.
