SmallRig 3295 Seamless Focus Gear Ring for 78-80mm Lenses

The SmallRig 3295 Seamless Focus Gear Ring is engineered specifically for camera lenses with a diameter of 78 to 80mm. This essential filmmaking accessory provides smooth and precise follow focus control, making it an ideal addition to professional video production and filmmaking rigs. Built to standard 0.8 MOD specifications, the gear ring ensures reliable performance and seamless mechanical integration with a wide variety of standard follow focus systems used by videographers and cinematographers.

Advantages

The seamless design of this focus gear ring eliminates bumps or snags during rotation, allowing for exceptionally smooth lens adjustments and precise focus pulls. Constructed from flexible yet durable materials, it wraps snugly around the lens barrel without slipping or requiring complex tools for installation. Its standard 0.8 MOD pitch guarantees broad compatibility with existing cinema gear, while the lightweight and low-profile build adds minimal bulk to your camera setup.

Suitable for

• Professional video production and independent filmmaking
• Documentary shooting requiring quick and accurate manual focus pulls
• Studio setups using standard 0.8 MOD follow focus systems
• Videographers working with 78mm to 80mm camera lenses

When it may not be suitable

This gear ring is not designed for lenses outside the 78 to 80mm diameter range, as incorrect sizing will lead to slippage or an improper fit. It is also not required for photography-only setups that do not utilize follow focus accessories.

Key specifications

• Designed for lens diameters between 78mm and 80mm
• Standard 0.8 MOD gear pitch
• Seamless construction for smooth rotation
• Compatible with standard follow focus systems

How to use

To install the gear ring, simply stretch and slip the flexible band directly over the manual focus ring of your compatible 78mm to 80mm camera lens. Ensure the ring is seated evenly and snugly around the entire circumference of the lens barrel. Once properly positioned, engage your follow focus unit so that its drive gear meshes cleanly with the 0.8 MOD teeth of the gear ring. Manually test the rotation to verify smooth movement before beginning your shoot.

What to consider before purchase

• Verify your camera lens outer diameter falls strictly between 78mm and 80mm
• Check that your existing follow focus unit utilizes a standard 0.8 MOD gear
• Confirm whether your shooting style requires manual follow focus accessories

Usage recommendations

For optimal longevity and performance, store the gear ring in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight when not in use, and avoid overstretching the material beyond its intended lens diameter range during installation.
