The SmallRig 3875 Magic Arm Mounting Arm with Dual Ball Heads 1/4"-20 Screw and NATO Clamp is a compact and lightweight accessory designed to securely mount photographic and video gear. Constructed from durable aluminium and stainless steel in a sleek grey finish, this versatile magic arm provides flexible positioning and reliable locking for professional camera rigs. Featuring dual 20mm ball heads with adjustment notches, it allows for a wide range of angles and equipment placement while maintaining a lightweight profile of only 91 grams.

Advantages

This mounting arm offers exceptional versatility through its dual-ball configuration, combining a 1/4"-20 screw with stretchable anti-twist pins on one end and a practical NATO clamp on the other. The integrated adjustable thumb lever ensures the ball heads can be firmly secured at any desired angle, complemented by a convenient magnetic wrench stored at the bottom for easy tightening of thumbwheels. The thoughtful notch design at both ends of the clamp expands the range of movement, enabling precise adjustments for monitors, lights, and other accessories without restrictive physical limits.

Suitable for

• Mounting external field monitors to camera cages
• Attaching LED video lights and flashes to camera rigs
• Securing microphones and audio receivers to top plates
• Quick attachment and removal via standard NATO rails

This magic arm may not be suitable for mounting heavy cinema cameras, large broadcast monitors, or long telephoto lenses that exceed the safe payload capacity of compact articulated arms. Additionally, setups that do not feature standard 1/4"-20 threaded holes or compatible NATO rails will require extra adapters.

How to use

To use the SmallRig 3875 Magic Arm, attach the end with the NATO clamp to a compatible NATO rail on your camera cage or top plate, and secure the lever. On the opposite end, mount your monitor, light, or accessory using the 1/4"-20 screw, ensuring the anti-twist pins engage properly to prevent rotation. Adjust the arm to your preferred viewing or lighting angle, and use the central thumb lever to lock both ball heads firmly in place. Use the included magnetic wrench at the bottom if additional torque is needed on the thumbwheels.

What to consider before purchase

• Verify that your camera setup includes a compatible NATO rail for the clamp end
• Check that your accessories feature a standard 1/4"-20 threaded mounting hole
• Assess the weight of your gear to ensure it aligns with a lightweight 91g mounting solution
• Consider whether the reach and articulation range of a compact magic arm meets your specific rig layout

Usage recommendations

Always double-check that the thumb lever and thumbwheels are fully tightened before moving your camera rig. Avoid overloading the arm with heavy equipment to maintain stability and prevent wear on the ball joints.
