Plastic Artist Palette SMARTMAX model Plastpalette kunstner 10 wells

SMARTMAX Plastpalette kunstner 10 wells is a lightweight plastic artist palette designed for mixing and organising paints. The palette provides ten separate wells for holding individual colours and a smooth central mixing area for blending. It is intended for studio use or plein-air sessions and is compatible with acrylics, oils and watercolor washes, offering a simple, easy-to-clean surface that helps keep pigments separated and accessible.

Advantages

The palette’s ten wells allow controlled separation of colours and pre-mixed tones, reducing cross-contamination while working. Its smooth mixing surface provides consistent texture for blending, and the plastic construction makes the palette lightweight, portable and easy to rinse or wipe clean. The design supports quick organisation of colours and simple maintenance between sessions.

Suitable for

• Artists working with acrylic paints who need organised colour wells.
• Oil painters seeking a portable, easy-to-clean mixing surface.
• Students and beginners practising colour mixing and value studies.
• Plein-air painters who need a lightweight palette for outdoor use.

When it may not be suitable

This plastic palette may not meet the needs of artists who prefer traditional wooden palettes for their weight and feel, or those who require very large continuous mixing areas for extensive colour blending. It may also be less suitable for prolonged use with solvents unless thoroughly cleaned, as some solvents can affect plastic over time.

Key specifications

• Material: rigid plastic with smooth mixing surface
• Number of wells: 10 separate wells for holding colours
• Primary use: mixing and organising paints for acrylics, oils and water-based washes
• Design: lightweight and portable for studio or outdoor use
• Cleaning: wipeable and rinseable surface for easy maintenance

How to use

Arrange your chosen colours in the separate wells to keep pigments organised. Use the central mixing area to blend hues and adjust values; the smooth surface allows for easy lifting and combining of paint. After use, wipe away excess paint with a cloth and rinse under lukewarm water or use an appropriate cleaner for oil paints. Store the palette flat to avoid warping and keep it in a dry place between sessions.

What to consider before purchase

• Compatibility with the paint types you use (acrylic, oil, water-based)
• Need for a larger continuous mixing area versus multiple wells
• Preference for material — plastic versus wood or glass palettes
• Cleaning method required for your selected media and solvents

Usage recommendations

For best results with acrylics and water-based washes, keep paints moist by covering the palette between sessions. For oil painting, remove excess paint promptly and use suitable solvents sparingly to protect the plastic surface. Use the wells for premixed key tones and the central area for final blends to maintain workflow efficiency.
