Interface Card Sonnet Echo Express SE I
The Sonnet Echo Express SE I is a compact desktop expansion system that lets you connect a single full-height, half-length+ PCIe card to computers that lack internal expansion slots via Thunderbolt 3. It supports a wide range of professional PCIe cards — video capture, audio interfaces, SAS/SATA host bus adapters, Fibre Channel, 10Gb/40Gb Ethernet, and RAID controllers — and connects to your computer using a single Thunderbolt 3 cable. The chassis is lightweight yet rugged, includes a temperature-controlled fan for quiet cooling, and ships with a Thunderbolt 3 cable and a ThunderLok 3 retainer clip to secure the connection.
The Echo Express SE I provides up to 40 Gbps Thunderbolt 3 bandwidth and supports high-performance PCIe 3.0 cards at near full throughput. Its single x8 PCIe slot accepts half-length+, full-height, single- or double-width cards and also has space for daughter cards used by some pro audio/video cards. Two Thunderbolt 3 ports enable daisy-chaining of additional peripherals and USB 3.1 Gen 2 compatibility on the second port. The enclosure is designed for quiet operation, automatic power cycling with the host computer, and reliable cooling via a variable-speed fan.
Install a compatible PCIe card into the internal x8 slot following the card manufacturer’s instructions and secure any daughter card in the adjacent space if required. Connect the Echo Express SE I to your computer using the included 0.5 m Thunderbolt 3 cable, and attach the AC power cable to the chassis. The unit powers on and off automatically with the connected computer. If desired, install the ThunderLok 3 retainer clip over the Thunderbolt cable connector and secure it to the chassis thumbscrew to prevent accidental disconnects.
Use cards that are listed on Sonnet’s PCIe Card Thunderbolt Compatibility Chart for verified compatibility. Ensure the installed card does not exceed the supported dimensions and allow adequate ventilation around the enclosure for optimal cooling. For daisy-chaining multiple Thunderbolt devices, connect the Echo Express SE I to the computer first, then chain other peripherals from the second Thunderbolt port.
