Interface Card Sonnet USB3C-2PM-E
The Sonnet Allegro USB-C PCIe card adds two SuperSpeed+ USB-C (USB 3.1 Gen 2) ports to a computer or Thunderbolt-to-PCIe expansion chassis, providing higher transfer speeds and greater power delivery than standard USB 3.0 ports. Designed for use in PCIe x4 (mechanical) slots and compatible with Thunderbolt expansion systems, the card supports fast external SSDs and other USB-C bus-powered devices while offering automatic PCIe link negotiation and easy installation with both low-profile and full-height brackets included.
The card delivers data transfers up to twice as fast as USB 3.0 and supplies up to 15W (3.0A) per port to support power-hungry USB-C SSDs and RAID enclosures. It independently regulates and protects each port against power glitches and includes resettable fuses to prevent permanent damage from cable or peripheral faults. PCIe auto-negotiation ensures full bandwidth across PCIe 3.0 and PCIe 2.0 slots, and the card is optimized for use in Thunderbolt 2 and Thunderbolt 3 to PCIe expansion chassis.
Install the Allegro USB-C PCIe card into an available PCIe x4 (mechanical) slot in your computer or insert it into a Thunderbolt-to-PCIe expansion chassis. Secure the appropriate bracket (low-profile or full-height) and boot the system; the card supports hot-pluggable and hot-swappable device connections and will automatically configure with USB-IF compliant peripherals. If a port fuse trips due to an overcurrent event, shut down the computer to reset the fuse before reusing the port.
Use quality USB-C cables and ensure connected SSDs or RAID enclosures comply with USB-IF specifications. When installing in Thunderbolt expansion chassis, confirm the chassis provides sufficient power and PCIe lane availability to achieve the card’s maximum performance.
