Interface Card Sonnet Allegro USB 3.2 Gen 1
The Sonnet Allegro USB 3.2 Gen 1 (USB3C-4PM-E) is a PCIe interface card that adds four USB-C ports to desktop computers, Mac Pro towers, Windows PCs, Linux systems, and Thunderbolt-to-PCIe expansion systems. It provides USB 3.2 Gen 1 (also called 3.1 Gen 1) connectivity with aggregate bandwidth suitable for high-speed external SSDs and modern USB drives that require both high data throughput and, in some cases, bus power.
This PCIe card delivers USB 3.2 Gen 1 performance to systems that have older or limited onboard USB interfaces, enabling transfer rates up to the capabilities of current SuperSpeed USB (up to twice the throughput of legacy USB 3.0 implementations in real-world use). Each USB-C port can supply power to bus-powered devices (up to 7.5 W per port), and the card uses a standard PCIe host interface for broad compatibility with desktop motherboards and expansion enclosures.
Install the Allegro USB-C 4-Port PCIe card into an available PCIe slot on your desktop motherboard or into a compatible Thunderbolt-to-PCIe expansion chassis. Secure the card, connect any required internal power cable if specified by your system, and power on the computer. The operating system (Windows, macOS in compatible towers, or Linux) should detect the card and enumerate the USB-C ports; install drivers if your OS prompts for them. After installation, connect USB-C devices to the ports to take advantage of higher transfer speeds and available bus power.
For best performance, use USB 3.2 Gen 1 (SuperSpeed) compatible cables and devices. When connecting bus-powered SSDs or drives with high current draw, verify that your system’s power supply and any required internal power connectors are adequate. If using in a Thunderbolt expansion chassis, ensure the enclosure supports the PCIe lane width required by the host system.
