Polyurethane Sealant-Adhesive Soudal FLEX PU 40, black, 300 ml

Soudal FLEX PU 40 is a one-component polyurethane sealant-adhesive in black supplied in a 300 ml cartridge. Designed for construction and renovation, it forms flexible, durable joints and bonds to a wide range of substrates. The formulation provides good adhesion on both porous and non-porous materials and cures to a resilient elastomeric seal that accommodates movement in joints and assemblies.

Advantages

The product offers combined sealing and bonding performance in a single-component system that requires no mixing. It cures to a flexible polyurethane elastomer with good adhesion to common building materials, reducing the need for separate adhesives and sealants. The cartridge format is compatible with standard caulking guns, enabling controlled application and consistent bead formation.

Suitable for

• Sealing expansion and connection joints in building façades and interior works
• Bonding and fixing panels, trims, and metal or concrete elements
• Gap filling around windows, doors, and utility penetrations
• General renovation tasks where a flexible, paintable black seal is required

When it may not be suitable

This polyurethane sealant-adhesive is not intended for continuous underwater immersion or for applications where exposure to potable water is required. It may not adhere adequately to certain low-energy plastics or to surfaces contaminated with oil, grease, or release agents unless those substrates are pre-treated or tested for compatibility.

Key specifications

• Type: one-component polyurethane sealant-adhesive
• Colour: black
• Packaging: 300 ml cartridge for use with manual or pneumatic caulking guns
• Curing: moisture-curing to an elastomeric seal
• Application temperature range: suitable for common construction site conditions (refer to technical data for limits)

How to use

Ensure surfaces are clean, dry and free from dust, oil, frost and loose materials. Cut the cartridge tip and fit the appropriate nozzle, then apply using a caulking gun with steady pressure to form a continuous bead. Tool the joint within the product’s tack-free time to achieve the desired finish and contact. Allow the sealant to cure by moisture absorption; curing speed depends on temperature and humidity. For bonding, apply an adequate bead or dabs and clamp or support components until initial handling strength is achieved.

What to consider before purchase

• Confirm compatibility with the substrates you intend to bond or seal; test on a small area if necessary
• Check required joint width and depth to ensure adequate joint design for movement accommodation
• Review surface preparation needs and whether primers or pre-treatments are required for specific materials
• Consider environmental conditions at application: temperature and humidity affect curing rate

Usage recommendations

Store cartridges in a cool, dry place. Use recommended application temperatures and follow safe handling instructions. For paintability and final performance, allow full cure before exposing the joint to mechanical stress or paint. When in doubt about adhesion to specific substrates, perform a compatibility test or consult technical datasheets.
