Screw SPAX BLAX 16 mm Steel 200 pc(s)
SPAX BLAX 16 mm screws are steel full-thread fasteners designed for woodworking tasks. Each screw features a flat countersunk head with a polygonal underside, a hexalobular internal T-STAR plus drive and a 4CUT arrow-shaped tip. Supplied in packs of 200, these screws are made for reliable, plug-free fastening of window and door frames and for heavy-duty wood connections where high clamping and shear forces are required.
The T-STAR plus hexalobular drive increases contact surface and ensures optimal bit positioning, enabling maximum force transmission and reducing bit slip. The flat countersunk head with pockets mills into the wood so the screw can be flush-mounted without pre-drilling in many situations. The full thread runs along the entire screw length, improving tensile and compressive load transfer in structural wood connections. The 4CUT tip displaces wood fibres to create room for the screw core, significantly lowering splitting risk and reducing the torque required from a cordless driver.
Select the correct T-STAR plus bit and fit it to a cordless screwdriver or driver that matches the recommended torque range for 16 mm screws. Position the screw so the 4CUT tip engages the wood fibres and start at low speed to ensure the pockets on the countersunk head mill into the surface. Increase speed and apply steady pressure until the head sits flush with the wood. For heavy-duty connections, drive the screw fully until the required clamp is achieved. Check joint alignment during fastening.
Depending on wood species and density, pre-drilling may not be necessary due to the 4CUT tip and milling pockets, but pre-drilling is recommended for very hard woods or where precise alignment is critical. Use appropriate safety equipment and avoid exceeding the driver’s torque to prevent head damage or overdriving.
