SPAX BLAX screws are steel wood screws with a length of 35 mm and a full-thread design that spans most or all of the screw length. They feature a flat countersunk head with a polygonal underside and a T-STAR plus hexalobular internal drive for optimal bit seating and maximum force transmission. The 4CUT arrow-shaped tip displaces wood fibres on insertion, reducing the need for pre-drilling and minimising splitting, while the black finish suits dark woods and fittings. The pack contains 200 screws and is intended for a range of woodworking and interior fastening tasks.
The T-STAR plus drive provides a large contact surface and precise positioning of the bit in the screw head, enabling high, accurate torque transmission and reducing bit slip. The flat countersunk head with polygonal underside mills into the wood to allow flush countersinking without pre-drilling in many cases. Full-thread design increases tensile and compressive load capacity for heavy-duty wood connections. The 4CUT tip reduces wood splitting and lowers the torque required from cordless drivers, speeding up serial fastening and reducing work steps.
Select a T-STAR plus bit that matches the hexalobular drive. Position the screw and drive it with a cordless or corded screwdriver at appropriate torque for the wood type. For many common woods and when using the 4CUT tip, pre-drilling is not required; the polygonal underside of the flat countersunk head will mill into the wood to allow flush seating. For dense or engineered woods, or when working very close to edges, consider a pilot hole according to the material to ensure correct countersinking and avoid splitting.
Use a T-STAR plus bit and adjust driver torque to the wood species. When fastening near edges or into very hard timber, a pilot hole is recommended despite the 4CUT tip. Store screws dry to avoid corrosion risk in unprotected environments.
