The StarTech VDSL2 Ethernet Extender Kit (VDSL-LAN-EXTENDER-EU) enables long-range LAN extension over a single-pair wire, phone line or Cat5e/Cat6 UTP up to 1 km (0.6 mi). The kit includes a network transmitter (master) and receiver (remote) that support aggregated throughput up to 300 Mbps at shorter distances and implement VDSL2 and related ITU-T standards for reliable DSL transport. The compact black units are powered by included AC adapters (100–240 V) and provide a simple way to extend Ethernet where fiber or additional switches are impractical.

How to use

Mount the master and remote units where needed and connect the local network switch or router to the master unit’s Ethernet port and the remote device or switch to the remote unit’s Ethernet port. Use single-pair telephone wire, RJ11, Cat5e or Cat6 UTP between the units and power each device with the included AC adapters. Configure the DIP switches to select Master or Remote mode, choose symmetric or asymmetric operation, and set G.INP or interleave plus SNR level according to line conditions. Observe the LEDs to confirm link status and speed; adjust settings if required to optimize stability and throughput.

Usage recommendations

For best performance, use Cat5e or better UTP where available and run a direct pair between units with minimal splices. Test different DIP switch profiles to find the optimal balance of speed and stability for the cable length and noise environment. When deploying for video surveillance or VLAN segmented traffic, verify VLAN transparency and monitor link health periodically.
