RAID Controller Intel VROCPREMMOD
The Supermicro RAID Controller Intel VROCPREMMOD enables software-defined RAID in server environments by providing support for RAID levels 0, 1, 10 and 5. Designed for use with Intel VROC Premium Hardware Key included in the package, the controller facilitates a balance of data redundancy and performance for storage arrays. Compatible operating systems include Windows Server 2016, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 10, Windows 7 SP2, and several enterprise Linux distributions such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 and SUSE.
The controller delivers flexible RAID configurations that combine striping and mirroring to meet performance and redundancy requirements. Inclusion of the Intel VROC Premium Hardware Key enables software RAID functionality without requiring dedicated hardware RAID cards, simplifying deployment in compatible server platforms. Broad OS compatibility and support for common RAID levels make this solution suitable for varied server storage needs while maintaining compatibility with virtualization features such as Intel® Virtualization Technology (VT-x).
Install the VROC Premium Hardware Key according to the server vendor’s installation guide and ensure the host firmware supports Intel VROC. Configure RAID arrays using the server management interface or the software utility provided by the platform vendor, selecting the appropriate RAID level for the workload. Verify OS compatibility and install any required drivers or management tools for your chosen operating system. Perform initial array initialization and data synchronization before placing the array into production.
For best results, choose RAID levels based on workload characteristics: RAID 0 for maximum throughput without redundancy, RAID 1 or 10 for write-intensive workloads needing redundancy, and RAID 5 for mixed read/write workloads where storage efficiency is important. Keep current backups and monitor array health regularly; apply firmware and driver updates from the server or platform vendor to retain compatibility and performance.
