Supermicro MCP-220-00007-01 is an internal interface card that provides a USB host connection and an RS-232 serial output for compatible Supermicro 2U chassis. Designed for wired installation in 2U server systems, the module is finished in black and includes a USB cable for direct connection. It is intended to add a front-accessible USB host and a serial console output for systems such as the SC813, SC825 and SC836, enabling peripheral attachment and serial management without external adapters.
This internal USB/serial assembly offers two connectivity options — a USB 2.0 host interface and an RS-232 serial output — in a compact 2U tray designed to fit specific Supermicro chassis. Because the kit is internally mounted and supplied with a cable, it simplifies installation and reduces the need for separate converter devices. The black finish matches the intended server enclosures and the design focuses on compatibility with targeted Supermicro models.
Install the unit into the designated 2U front tray location of a compatible Supermicro chassis following the server manual instructions. Connect the supplied USB cable between the assembly and the motherboard or internal USB header. Attach the RS-232 serial output to the server’s serial header or port as required by the chassis wiring. After physical installation, verify that the system BIOS or operating system recognizes the USB host and serial interfaces and install any necessary drivers if the OS does not provide native support.
Use the assembly inside supported Supermicro 2U chassis models to maintain proper airflow and cable routing. Ensure the internal USB cable is secured away from moving components and high-temperature zones. For serial console access, use appropriate terminal settings and protected cabling to reduce interference.
