3D printer controller board Sygnis Ramps 1.4 RepRap
Sygnis Ramps 1.4 RepRap is a compact controller board designed for RepRap-compatible 3D printers. It acts as the central interface between the main microcontroller and printer peripherals, offering connectors for stepper motor drivers, endstops, heaters, thermistors, cooling fans and up to two extruders. The board is intended for DIY builds and upgrades where modularity and compatibility with standard RepRap electronics are required.
The board provides a familiar, modular layout that simplifies integration with popular RepRap microcontroller shields and stepper driver modules. It supports separate connections for hotend heaters and heated beds, dedicated thermistor inputs for temperature feedback, and multiple fan outputs for part and electronics cooling. Its compact form factor and standardized pinouts make it suitable for retrofit projects and custom printer frames.
Install the Sygnis Ramps 1.4 RepRap board as the shield or interface layer on top of a compatible microcontroller board, aligning the pin headers and securing it in place. Insert compatible stepper driver modules into the designated driver sockets, connect stepper motors to the corresponding motor connectors, and wire endstops to the endstop inputs. Connect thermistors to the temperature inputs and route heater and fan power leads to their respective outputs. After completing hardware connections, configure firmware on the host microcontroller to match the board layout, enable the correct stepper driver types, set axis steps and thermal parameters, and test movement, endstop behavior and temperature control before normal operation.
Use appropriately rated power supplies and perform wiring with the power disconnected. Verify thermistor types and heater power requirements in firmware settings to prevent overheating. When installing stepper driver modules, follow manufacturer guidance for microstepping and current adjustment. Ensure adequate cooling for drivers and electronics when operating at higher currents or with enclosed printers.
