Carrier panel Synology Disk Tray D6 — 2.5/3.5" drive, Black, 172×118×28 mm
Synology Disk Tray D6 is a replacement carrier panel engineered to accept both 2.5" and 3.5" storage drives. The single black tray measures 172 × 118 × 28 mm and provides a standard mounting interface for compatible Synology drive bays and enclosures, enabling straightforward drive installation and swapping in NAS systems and storage arrays.
The tray supports two common drive form factors, reducing the need for separate carriers for different drives and simplifying inventory. Its standard dimensions and mounting points ensure compatibility with supported Synology enclosures, while the black finish helps maintain a uniform appearance within the rack or chassis. Designed for ease of handling, the tray allows quick replacement of drives without additional tools in many setups.
Turn off the NAS or put the drive bay into hot-swap removal mode if supported, then release the existing tray latch and slide the tray out. Mount the 2.5" or 3.5" drive into the tray following the device manufacturer’s alignment and secure it according to the enclosure’s instructions. Slide the loaded tray back into the bay until it locks into place. For hot-swap systems, confirm the system recognizes the drive after insertion.
Handle drives and the carrier tray with electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions. Use the tray intended for your Synology model and verify drive compatibility and firmware requirements before installation to ensure correct operation within your NAS or storage array.
