The Synology SA3400D Rack 2U is a high-availability NAS designed for business environments that require reliable file and block storage. Powered by an Intel Xeon D-1541 processor and 8 GB DDR4 memory, the SA3400D supports NAS and SAN roles with flexible expansion options, hot‑swappable controllers, and support for up to 12 drive bays per unit. It is intended for unified data management, sharing, backup and virtual machine storage on a scalable rack-mounted platform.

Advantages

The SA3400D provides automatic minute-level failover using two independent, hot-swappable controllers in an active-passive configuration to maintain service continuity for file sharing, block storage and backups. It delivers strong throughput and random I/O performance for SMB/NFS file services and iSCSI or Fibre Channel block storage. Capacity can be expanded up to 576 TB by adding two RXD1219sas expansion units, and network and I/O performance can be enhanced with optional 10/25GbE add-in cards. SAS SSDs can be used to create all-flash volumes or read/write cache to improve IOPS and reduce latency on HDD volumes.
