Description

The TEAC AD-850-SE/B combines a cassette deck and CD player in a single unit and also supports recording to and playback from USB flash drives, providing three media types in one device. The front-panel microphone input with an echo function allows mixing vocal input with backing music from CD, cassette or USB flash drive and recording the mixed signal to tape or USB (with the exception noted below). The compact black unit includes pitch control, timer functions and support for MP3 playback from CD-R/RW discs and USB flash drives.

Advantages

This model offers flexible recording and playback options: record from CD, cassette, external input or mic input to a USB flash drive as MP3 files, and record from CD, USB (MP3), mic input or external input to cassette tape. The built-in microphone jack and two-level echo effect enable simple karaoke use. The CD player supports CD-R/RW and MP3 file display (ID3 tags and file names for single-byte characters), while the cassette deck provides two-head one-way operation with support for normal, chrome and metal (playback only) tapes. Additional functions include pitch control (+/−10%), various playback modes (program, repeat, shuffle) and timer-controlled playback/recording.

How to use

Connect a USB flash drive, insert a CD or cassette, or connect an external input source. For vocal input, plug a microphone into the front-panel mic jack and set the echo switch to the desired level or off. Select the desired source and playback mode on the unit. To record to a USB flash drive, choose the source (CD, TAPE, LINE or MIC) and start recording — recorded MP3 files will be saved into automatically generated folders named by source on the USB device. To record to cassette, select the source and start dubbing; adjust recording level when dubbing if needed. Note: mic sound cannot be recorded when recording directly from CD to USB.

Usage recommendations

For karaoke use, connect the TEAC AD-850-SE/B to an external amplifier and speakers to obtain sufficient playback volume. Use a commercially available external timer if you require scheduled start/stop for CD or USB playback; timer recording applies to cassette tapes only.
