Multiswitch Televes MSU5216C 5 in 2x16 dCSS — Multiswitch for satellite and terrestrial distribution
Televes MSU5216C is a 5-input multiswitch engineered for centralized distribution of satellite and terrestrial television signals. The device accepts four satellite LNB polarizations and a terrestrial antenna input, combining them into two dCSS-compatible output lines with 16 user-independent channels each. Designed for multi-dwelling units and small commercial installations, the multiswitch provides stable signal routing and enables connected dCSS receivers to select channels independently over a shared coaxial infrastructure.
The multiswitch supports dCSS technology on two outputs, allowing simultaneous independent channel selection by multiple receivers without conventional band-split limitations. Compact housing and straightforward connections simplify installation and reduce cabinet space. Signal combining of satellite and terrestrial inputs eliminates the need for additional external combiners, and the device is compatible with common single-cable distribution topologies used in residential and small commercial deployments.
Install the multiswitch in a central distribution point and connect the four outputs of the satellite LNB to the satellite input ports and the terrestrial antenna to the terrestrial input. Run coaxial cables from each of the two dCSS outputs to distribution amplifiers or directly to riser lines serving subscriber apartments or rooms. Ensure that connected receivers support dCSS to permit independent channel selection; for receivers without dCSS support, conventional switching behavior will apply. Follow standard safety and grounding practices for antenna and distribution equipment during installation.
For reliable operation, use quality coaxial cables (75 Ω) with proper shielding and minimize cable lengths where possible. Verify receiver compatibility with dCSS and configure receiver settings according to the satellite operator or headend requirements. If signal levels need adjustment, use appropriate inline amplifiers or attenuators designed for combined satellite and terrestrial distribution.
